Over the weekend a number of events happened to celebrate Purbeck at War. The highlight for many was seeing the Mark 11c Hurricane No. PZ865 fly over Corfe Castle and then follow the railway line to Swanage.
Passengers on a Swanage Railway steam train south of Corfe Castle were in for a treat on Saturday 27th June when a Second World War Royal Air Force Hurricane fighter made a flypast as part of the Purbeck at War Weekend.
The passengers watched in amazement as Mark 11c Hurricane No. PZ865 – that starred in the classic 1960s film Battle of Britain – made two passes over the heritage line just before 5pm.
